C13Originals and Pulitzer Prize-Winning Historian Jon Meacham Launch New Season of Critically Acclaimed “Hope, Through History” Documentary Podcast

Limited-run documentary podcast series set to explore five pivotal moments of crisis in American history and how they shaped the nation

The HISTORY Channel™ partners with marketing support and creative consultation

New York, NY (June 28, 2021)—C13Originals, the Peabody Award-nominated documentary studio division of leading premium podcast studio Cadence13, an Audacy company, today announced the second season of Hope, Through History, the critically acclaimed, limited-run documentary podcast series directed-and-produced by C13Originals and written and narrated by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and #1 New York Times bestselling author Jon Meacham that explores pivotal moments of crisis in American history and how they shaped the nation.  The HISTORY Channel™ will provide creative consultation and multi-faceted marketing support as a partner in the franchise.

On Hope, Through History, C13Originals and Jon Meacham explore moments in history when America's leaders and citizens were forced to confront crises of historic magnitude. Offering a rich and textured portrait of not only the events themselves, Hope, Through History also addresses how these moments impacted the economy, political discourse and culture, ultimately bringing disparate parts of the country together to create a new, and often brighter, future.

The first season of Hope, Through History, released in April 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic was unfolding around the world, looked back at the 1918 Flu Pandemic; the Great Depression; World War II; the polio epidemic; and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Now, in Hope, Through History, Season Two, Meacham and guests will focus on new topics, exploring a different crisis on each installment of the five-episode series, including:

  • FDR, Churchill, and America's Slow Walk to War
  • The Battle of Gettysburg and what this moment meant for the Civil War and the future of the country
  • George W. Bush and the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
  • The sinking of the Lusitania, and the tragic event’s impact on leading the US into WWI and decades of isolation that followed
  • People Are Going to Die Here: Bloody Sunday and the Voting Rights Act

Episode One of Hope, Through History, Season Two will drop on June 30, 2021, on Apple Podcasts, Audacy, Spotify, and everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be available Wednesdays through July 21, 2021. Listen to the trailer and subscribe to the series here: https://link.chtbl.com/NCozHBVS.

Notable guests throughout the series include historian Allida Black; Civil War historian Elizabeth R. Varon; Peter Baker, chief White House correspondent, The New York Times; presidential historian Michael Beschloss; and Ronald C. White, historian and bestselling author.
