Cadence13 to Launch Podcast with Joseph Gordon-Levitt
On his new podcast series “Creative Processing,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt will get into the nitty-gritty of how a wide variety of creative people do what they do
In the ten-episode series, listeners’ questions will inspire conversations between Gordon-Levitt and a range of creative guests, including Hollywood notables like Rian Johnson and Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, behind-the-scenes heavyweights like casting director Mary Vernieu, political visual artist Shepard Fairey, indie sonic songstress Yuka Honda, and more
New York, NY (July 15, 2019)—Cadence13, a leading premium podcast company, today announced the launch of Creative Processing with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the first-ever podcast hosted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emmy award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actor, director, writer, and co-founder of HITRECORD—an online community of over half a million artists emphasizing collaboration over self-promotion. Joe and notable guests will explore a different aspect of the creative process every week based in an interactive format fueled by listener-generated questions and topics.
Creative Processing with Joseph Gordon-Levitt will launch on August 19, 2019 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Radio.com and everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be available every Tuesday through October 22, 2019. Listen to the trailer and subscribe to the series here: http://bit.ly/creativeprocessing
Leading up to the launch of Creative Processing with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and throughout the ten-episode series, Gordon-Levitt will invite listeners to participate by submitting questions they have regarding all aspects of the creative process, which will serve as the springboard for the discussion between Gordon-Levitt and his guests. Questions could range from how to find a balance between creative expression and professionalism, coping with writer’s block, how to approach a creative collaboration with someone that has a completely different style or vision, and more.
If listeners have any questions they’d like to hear Joe and his guests discuss on the podcast, they are invited to post their questions on social using the hashtag #creativeprocessing on social, or by emailing creativeprocessing@hitrecord.org.
Gordon-Levitt will be joined by a wide range of notable guests on Creative Processing, including: writers, directors, and producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg; graphic artist and activist Shepard Fairey; multi-instrumentalist Yuka Honda; folk duo Madisen Ward & The Mama Bear; casting director Mary Vernieu; and Rian Johnson, writer/director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and a longtime collaborator of Joe’s on films including Brick and Looper.
“I’m a big fan of the podcast format, because it provides enough time to have a real conversation,” said Gordon-Levitt. “In most media, you’re forced to speak in sound bites, so you can never dive very deeply into any particular thought or idea. It’s sort of funny how nowadays, at the same time as social media is making our attention-spans shorter than ever, podcasts have risen up to offer this long-form alternative. I’ve been wanting to try it for years, and I’m grateful to get the opportunity to do so with Cadence13.”
“Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s storied career and firsthand insight into the creative process will make this series a truly collaborative experience for listeners and a great fit for the podcast space,” said Chris Corcoran, Chief Content Officer, Cadence13. “We are excited to bring Joe’s voice and perspective to Cadence13.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's acting career spans the last three decades, and ranges from television (3rd Rock from the Sun) to arthouse (Mysterious Skin, Brick) to multiplex (Inception, 500 Days of Summer, Snowden). He made his feature screenwriting and directorial debut with Don Jon (Independent Spirit Award nomination, Best First Screenplay). He also serves as the CEO of HITRECORD, a "community-sourced" online creative platform for collaborative art and media projects of all kinds. HITRECORD's online community of over 700,000 artists emphasizes creative collaboration over self-promotion, producing content for partners ranging from LG to Ubisoft to the ACLU, and winning an Emmy for its variety show HITRECORD ON TV.
